New Heights was founded on the belief that counseling should focus on the quality of care, not the number of clients seen. After working in several large counseling groups in Central Ohio, I witnessed frequent staff turnover, limited support for counselors, and clients being reassigned to new providers again and again. This lack of stability often led to frustration, misunderstandings, and disruptions in care—experiences that can make healing much harder for clients.

I wanted to build something different: a practice that encourages growth, creativity, and thoughtful innovation rather than simply repeating what has “always” been done. This vision includes thoughtfully exploring new tools and approaches, such as the use of Virtual Reality (VR) in the treatment of phobias, when supported by research and clinical benefit.

As the practice grew, my professional interests became deeply personal. After receiving my own ADHD diagnosis shortly after starting the business, I became increasingly aware of how little attention is often given to understanding the brain at a biological and neurological level within the mental health field. This realization led me to immerse myself in brain imaging and neuroscience research, shaping New Heights’ growing focus on the effective treatment of ADHD—one of the most common and impactful mental health conditions worldwide.

My long-term goal is to contribute meaningful research and develop more effective treatment options for ADHD. I believe this work may also open the door to new insights and treatments for other complex conditions, including schizophrenia, severe personality disorders, and recovery from cult involvement. Ultimately, this research may help create therapy approaches that are more efficient, effective, and capable of helping people experience lasting change in a shorter period of time.
